Redefining what a neighborhood can be by cultivating unique and diverse culinary experiences, from local favorites to world-class concepts.

JBG SMITH has started construction on two new outdoor destinations in National Landing: Dining in the Park and Water Park. Dining in the Park, a first-of-its-kind dining concept, will be anchored by Surreal, an indoor/outdoor culinary destination across an entire acre of green space. Also coming soon, visitors will be able to sip on beer and wine at Water Park, a reimagined green space with restaurant kiosks and seating areas, a full-service restaurant, new water feature-including a “water wall” with  a bar perched  on top-and a stage for live performances.

“Dining in the Park is an exciting addition to an already groundbreaking neighborhood.” – Enrique Limardo, Chef of Surreal

The National Landing BID brought together the community through fun and engaging seasonal activations year-round.

Collaborating with best-in-class partners to build a first-of-its-kind digital infrastructure platform that serves as a blueprint for innovation districts across the globe.

JBG SMITH is building the nation’s first 5G Smart City at scale with a host of partners, including AT&T and Arlington County. The digital infrastructure will make National Landing a prototype for smart cities of the future and change the way people live and do business. As the company establishes National Landing as the country’s next technology hub, breaking ground on Virginia Tech’s Innovation Campus is another example of a meaningful partnership at work to make a difference.

“American competitiveness in the deployment of 5G networks – and innovation in the emerging technologies 5G unlocks – remain key to our national and economic security interest. I am excited to see National Landing emerge as our first 5G community […].” – Mark R. Warner (D-VA), US Senator

ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN ———————————————–

Progressive Placemaking at Work

Revealing the full potential of our neighborhood through vibrant, intentional and sustainable design.

Designed to transform the way our tenants live and work, 1550 Crystal Drive, 1900 Crystal Drive, and 2000 and 2001 South Bell Street represent National Landing’s commitment to an 18-hour neighborhood delivering a reimagined workplace and refined city living experiences.

“The thriving, mixed-use environment [of 1900 Crystal Drive] will allow people to easily walk from their home or office to their favorite restaurants and amenities – cementing National Landing as a destination both day and night.” – Tony Greenberg, Executive Vice President of JBG SMITH

“National Landing is comprehensive in its scale and reach… a new public realm that supports pedestrians and bike transit, 14 new parks that create a diverse network of open spaces, street-oriented shops and restaurants.” – David Manfredi, CEO of Elkus Manfredi Architects and Master Plan Architect

After acquiring the shuttered Americana Hotel, JBG SMITH is entitling the site to include up to 650 residential units above street-level retail. Open since 1963, the Americana hotel was one of the oldest in Crystal City.

Amazon’s Topping Out

PenPlace, the second phase of Amazon’s National Landing headquarters will include three LEED Platinum office buildings, 2.5 acres of public green space, and The Helix, a unique building designed to integrate work with nature. Amazon, JBG SMITH and the National Landing community recently celebrated the “topping out,” or completion of the highest floor at Metropolitan Park, the first phase of its HQ2 development. Amazon employees will begin working from Metropolitan Park in 2023.
